  1. BAPTISMAL LIVING, Part 5

    Join us for the final session in our online series “Baptismal Living”, generously sponsored by the Deanery of London.  

    For anyone interested in reflecting more deeply on our baptismal promises, including those preparing for baptism, confirmation, or the renewal of baptismal vows. Our speaker for this session is the Rev’d Dr Dawn Davis, Assistant Professor of Contextual Learning at Huron University and Director of Faith Formation at St Paul’s Cathedral, Diocese of Huron.

    This year we are offering 6 sessions of our Week-long Overnight Sessions, 2 sessions of  Our Leader in Training Program.  And, back by popular demand, Day Trippers, a Monday to Friday program for children who to join a cabin group during the day, from breakfast to dinner.

    "Upping" Your Welcome: The Why (not just the How)
    Date: Tuesday, March 17, 2026,  Time: 7:00–8:30 pm (Zoom)

    With the Rev’d Canon Dr. Judy Paulsen: Professor of Evangelism, Wycliffe College (2013-2024), former director of the Institute of Evangelism (2016 to 2023), author of A New and Ancient Evangelism (Baker Academic, 2024), and coordinator of the Season of Spiritual Renewal, Diocese of Toronto (2024-2025)

    Why another conversation about welcome?

    Many of our parishes have already been working hard to be places of welcome. We often focus on the how: signage, greeters, coffee hours, websites, and follow-up. Of course, these practical details matter. But beneath them lies a deeper and more important question: Why do we welcome in the first place?

    This evening will invite participants to step back and reflect on welcoming not simply as a strategy to fill pews but as something that allows us to join in what God is already doing and has the potential to transform people’s lives. What will this evening explore?

    • Some of the Bible’s most well-loved stories of people coming to faith

    • How our own spiritual renewal and prayer is linked to people being welcomed 

    • How a renewed perspective on welcome can change the DNA of a church, resulting in many practical new habits and practices

    What do we hope you will take away?

    • Greater clarity about the why behind welcoming people to explore their spiritual questions and longings
    • A renewed theological and spiritual grounding for parish hospitality
    • Practical suggestions, strategies, & experiments that flow from purpose, not pressure

    This evening is for anyone who cares about the life of their parish and wants to reflect on what it means to welcome others in Christ’s name. Seeker, explorer, new Christian, or someone who has journeyed with Christ for many years…all are welcome.

  4. CANTERBURY COLLEGE WORKSHOPS: 

    Faith Without Favouritism and Allyship ~  February and March

    One of the things that marginalized groups often say is that while they appreciate efforts folks make to lift up and recognize the contributions marginalized groups make to our lives, doing some education around the roots of the marginalization/oppression is still necessary.  We are responsible for educating ourselves in these issues and taking steps to change old habits,  microaggressions, and unintentional ways we continue to perpetuate racist and oppressive systems. 

    Sat. March 7 - The Faith Without Favouritism course happening in February (Black History Month) is a solid way folks can move beyond words and take real action to show their commitment to dismantling systems of oppression.  POSTER-Faith without Favouritism

    Sat. March 21 - If the Feb course isn't a possibility, then the Allyship likewise is a great way to put "boots on the ground" re doing the work of anti-oppression rather than just talking about it.  POSTER-Allyship

  5. UPCOMING EVENTS IN THE DEANERY OF ESSEX

    Lay Leadership Training Classes: Lay leadership courses for 2025 and early 2026.
    These classes will be held in person at Canterbury College. Classes are from 10:00 am - 2:30 pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

    We have partnered with Canterbury College for the courses and they are providing us with the technology support to also bring the classes by zoom. Please join us for one or for all of the classes.

    This year we have decided to focus on the core subjects.

    •   June 20th- Pastoral Care

    •   Sept 19th- What is a Lay Reader?

  6. AFC OPENS REGISTRATION FOR SAY YES! to KIDS 2026

    The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Say Yes! to Kids (SYTK) campaign, the Foundation’s national fundraising initiative supporting children and youth-focused ministry across the Anglican Church of Canada.

  7. MENTAL HEALTH IN MINISTRY: FAITH IN ACTION BIANNUAL CAPNM CONFERENCE

    •   Bach Vespers for Lent

    Spiritus Ensemble presents Bach Vespers for Lent on Sun, Mar 8 at 4:00 pm. The performance by the Choir and Orchestra will feature Bach Cantata 161 Komm, du süße Todesstunde with additional music by Henry Purcell and William Harris. Soloists are Jennifer Enns Modolo, mezzo-soprano; and Bud Roach, tenor. Admission by donation. POSTER

    Musical Flora, St. John's signature concert series, presents Hendiadys on Sun, Mar 15 at 2:00 pm!

  3. ST. PAUL’S, PORT DOVER is hosting its Traditional Spaghetti Dinner to be held in St. Paul’s Community Hall on Saturday March 14th at 5:00 p.m.

    Tickets will be available for $15.00 at the door on the evening of the event.

    •   The 64th Annual Lenten Noon Hour Interdenominational Services

    These interdenominational services are held weekly for 7 weeks during Lent from 12:10pm until 12:35pm followed by a sandwich luncheon in the parish hall.  The theme this year is “The Cost of Discipleship”.  Free will offering with proceeds to CK Hospice, Outreach for Hunger, and Salvation Army Food Bank. “EVERYONE IS WELCOME”

    St. Paul's Cathedral in the UK describes Evensong as follows:

    "This service is led by the choir, who sing responses, canticles, an anthem, and the psalms set for the day on our behalf, allowing us to experience the beauty of the music in this iconic setting. There are some readings from the Bible, and prayers are said for the Church, the World and ourselves."

  7. UPCOMING EVENTS AT CHURCH OF THE HOLY SAVIOUR (33 Allen St. E. Waterloo)

    •   The Gospel by Ear - A Lenten Listening Practice at the Parish Hall

    This Lent, join us on Tuesday evenings for a communal practice of reading and listening to the Gospels together. Over the course of Lent, we will read all four Gospels aloud, letting the Gospels wash over us in their entirety, received through one another’s voices. Reading aloud is always optional; you are warmly invited to come and simply listen. Feel free to bring a small, quiet craft — knitting or handiwork is welcome.

    Each reading is offered as a gift; the heart of the gathering is not study or discussion, but shared attention — hearing the living Word as it is received in community.

  9. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER- Nigeria Focus will take place at TRINITY, SARNIA (1194 Murphy Rd. Sarnia) on Friday, March 6 at 2pm.

    World Day of Prayer is an international, ecumenical movement which enables us to hear the thoughts of women from over 120 countries. ALL ARE WELCOME to join together in prayer and fellowship to reflect on the theme

    This year’s focus is NIGERIA; come and learn about Nigeria’s history, culture and concerns.

  11. COME CELEBRATE YOUR CELTIC ROOTS – Saturday March 7th at ST. JAMES', INGERSOLL (130 Thames St. S in Ingersoll)

    St. James’ Church Ingersoll is celebrating the Celtic culture in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day!

    We are pleased to present the duo “The Paddy Stones” who will definitely entertain you  with a vast selection of tunes. All the way from Tillsonburg deep down in County Oxford, The Paddy Stones are two acoustic guitar playing gents who have entertained crowds for years at highland games, pubs, restaurants and private parties. They play pub favourites from Ireland, Scotland, the East Coast and Sea Shanties with plenty of song variations. Rick and Dan love to get the audience involved and ensure that attendees have a great time. They will post the words of many songs so all can see and sing along.

The Diocesan Cemetery committee is looking for a volunteer to do some preliminary property title searches for some of our cemeteries established in the 19th and early 20th century.  Interested?  Curious?

CHILDREN’S, YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRIES COORDINATOR
Holy Trinty Anglican Church in Stratford is looking for a dynamic and compassionate person to join the ministry team as the Children’s, Youth and Family Ministries Coordinator.  This part-time coordinator (35 hours/month) will be responsible for providing leadership including the recruitment and coordination of volunteers for the weekly Sunday School, monthly Youth Group, and other seasonal activities .
